The Company was founded by Mr. K.D.A.Weerasinghe in 1987 and was incorporated as a limited liability company in 1991. Although the company started off at a relatively small scale, it is now one of the largest construction companies in the country with Grade CS2 certification awarded by the CIDA.

Overview
K.D.A. Weerasinghe & Co. Pvt Ltd (KDAW) is a specialist roads, highways, water supply, airport and irrigation contractor holding the highest ICTAD/CIDA status construction for over 15 years. The company with a history of over 27 years has successfully delivered over 250 multidisciplinary projects sum- ming to over 3000km of roads and high- ways, 1500km of pipe laying and over 35 Bridges.
Some iconic projects delivered by KDAW include the construction of a section of the southern expressway, 6 of the 11 southern expressway link roads, a section of the Galle road, the Galle fort internal roads, the distribution and transmission lines in the Echchalampatuttu, Mannar and Ruhunupura water supply schemes, 3km surface water dam in Vavuniya and the aprons and taxi ways of the both the Bandaranaike International Airport and Ratmalana Domestic airport. Over the years our construction performance has been continuously commended with awards won both locally and internationally for quality.
At present KDAW is equipped with a diverse workforce which includes experienced and qualified civil, mechanical, chemical, mining, material and electrical engineers. Furthermore, being a forward and backward integrated company, all aggregate, concrete, asphalt and road concrete products are sourced via company operated quarries and plants.
KDAW operates metal quarries, crusher plants, asphalt plants and concrete batching plants which are strategically located across the country to supply the company’s ongoing projects, ensuring a high level of efficiency. To further aid the construction activities and assure superior workmanship the company maintains a state-of-the-art heavy machinery fleet exceeding 650 units.
Being an ISO Certified Company, our operations are conducted in Compliance to ISO 9001-Quality Management Systems (QMS)as well as ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) & ISO 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS).
KDAW has continuously handed over large scale infrastructure projects won via competitive bidding and in the last 5 years alone, the company has completed over 30 Asian Development Bank funded Projects on time and to the highest standards. Our performance has been highly commended by our clients such as the Road Development Authority Sri Lanka, National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Airport & Aviation Services [SL] Limited, Josef Riepl(JR), Sumitomo Corporation, China National Aero Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC), Taisei Corporation and consultants such as Lahmeyer International, Japan Airport Consultants, Engineering Science Inc, Mott Mac Donald’s, SMEC, URS and Scott Wilson.
